What’s an engagement celebration without a bottle of Dom Perignon?! (Especially when the groom-to-be is named Dom) Personally, I can’t think of a better way to toast to the future! Emily and Dom are such a sweet couple and the day we spent together was insanely fun. Engagement sessions are one of my favorites. I love watching couples dance into a new era of their relationship, and capturing such sweet moments is the best! Engagement sessions are a ton of fun and it definitely helps when your clients are the most adorable fun-loving couple ever — but I also may be biased, haha!
Setting The Tone For The Session
For this session, I asked Emily and Dom what their vision was. Key questions I ask are “How do you want your photos to feel?” or “What is the emotion you want to bring out through these images?” another favorite is “How do you view your relationship and how can we bring that vision to life through this session?” I find that key questions like this help us collaborate to come up with the ultimate location and vibe. Emily and Dom shared their thoughts with me and ultimately we settled on a Geneva On The Lake engagement session. We had such a stunning day, the way the sun gleamed through the tall pines was incredible and the grounds of Geneva made for some whimsical photographs. I used film for this session so I absolutely leaned into the fairytale feel of this gorgeous spot!
I clicked with these two instantly. Emily and Dom own a business together so they spend a TON of time in each other’s presence. Often couples tell me they enjoy their space, but Emily and Dom are the complete opposite. In fact, they’re just like me and my husband — the more time together the better! It was clear how much these two loved each other. Those sparkling eyes, radiant smiles, and loving touches tell you all you need to know about their relationship! Emily and Dom have a passion for creating magic moments and experiences worth sharing. I know how important the engagement season is for couples so I wanted this Geneva On The Lake engagement session to be an experience they could look back on fondly, with images that tell the story beautifully. At the end of the day, all I want is for my clients to have a medium that allows them to reflect on the specific time in their lives with positivity and lots of love!
Pop The Champagne!
After popping the bottle of Dom Perignon (which they received as an engagement gift) it was time to stroll around the gorgeous gardens with the bubbles in hand, of course! I snuck adorable shots of them enjoying each other’s company before we hopped into a few posed shots. Emily and Dom were having the best time and everything was such a breeze. Capturing true love is an easy task when you have a couple like Emily and Dom who wear it all on their sleeves! We wrapped up at Geneva, but before I let Emily and Dom out of my sight I had one last trick up my sleeve. I had told them both to bring a fun change of clothes for some more engagement shots in a secret location. They said they wanted a memorable experience, so I was ready to bring it to them!
We headed back into town and took a few more photos on the streets before finally calling it a day. Emily and Dom allowed themselves to let loose, dance, and play into the night! After officially ending the shoot they stayed in town for dinner to make the most of their memories. I am just obsessed with these two and hope they use these images to share their love story for years to come!
